BATTLE WITH CAERPHILLY CAMERA CLUB
On Tuesday 10th October we hosted the Annual Battle with Caerphilly Camera Club. We were pleased to welcome about 8 members of Caerphilly Club to the Battle. The judge was Dennis Russ from Swansea who gave concise and knowledgeable appraisals of all the images with much humour. The Clubs each submitted 10 prints and 10 projected images. At the end of the print competition Rhondda were well ahead with a score of 183 to Caerphilly’s 174. However, things were much closer in the projected competition which Caerphilly won with a score of 181 to our 180. Rhondda did win the overall Battle with a total score of 363 to the visitors 355, and so our Club hold the splendid glass trophy for yet another year. In Competitions such as these where Club scoring rules do not apply, each judge adopts his own view about how to score the Battle. Dennis adopted a generous scoring regime and said at the outset that he would not give any image a score of less than 16. He also gave a total of 10 scores of 20; 5 to Caerphilly and 5 to Rhondda. Congratulations to our members, David Norton, Anthony Bowdritch and Brian Merry who scored the 20’s. Inter Club Battles are friendly events and offer a great chance to meet and socialise with members of other Clubs. Thanks to all the members of RCC who helped to make this event a great success, especially those of you who provided and helped prepare the refreshments. We look forward to our return visit to Caerphilly Club next October |
