Dawn Latcham AWPF CPAGB Member of Rhondda Camera Club from 2011 I enjoy photography as a hobby and when I joined the club I l was only photographing point and shoot landscapes. I liked landscapes as it meant I would be outdoors and I just enjoyed taking photographs of places I’d visited.
I soon found out there are so many different types of photography such as street, still life, portraiture, the list is endless.
Once I was around photographers with way more skills than I had I began to experiment with more than landscapes. I learnt editing and printing skills with the help of club members, I cannot thank them enough for their time and I have made lifelong friends.
I have been on many day trips with members as a club and travelled to Venice Masked Carnival and to Iceland twice with 3 other members. These were memorable trips and I have fabulous photographs to show for it.
The longer I was with the club the more my confidence grew and 3 years ago I hired a room so I could set up a studio. I began making costumes, sets, editing and printing my own work.
2022/23 has been an exceptional year for me. I gained my PAGB and won Best Print in the Welsh Salon and also came 2nd in Rhondda Camera Clubs Photographer of the Year.. I’m not sure where photography will take me next but I know I will continue to enjoy it.
